Human Rights in Ireland welcomes this guest post from Walter Jayawardene, Communications Manager, Irish Council of Civil Liberties
The deadline is approaching for entries to the 2013 ICCL Human Rights Film Awards , Ireland’s only human rights short film competition.
The ICCL Film Awards team is calling on filmmakers in Ireland and further afield to submit their human rights-themed short films by close of business, 15 April 2013.
Now entering its fifth year, the ICCL Human Rights Film Awards is Ireland’s only human-rights themed short film competition. Its aim is to provide filmmakers and those working in human rights with an opportunity to contribute to human rights discourse in Ireland through the medium of film. The work of five finalists will be screened as part of a Gala Awards evening in Dublin in summer 2013. A Grand Prize winner will be selected by our star Jury, which features a wealth of award-winning Irish film talent, including Kirsten Sheridan, Rebecca Miller, Stephen Rea, Brenda Fricker and Victoria Smurfit.
Films must be 12 minutes or under in length. Full details of how to apply, shortlisted films from past competitions, and updates on prizes and Jury membership are available on the competition website – www.humanrightsfilmawards.org.
